Louise Mackenzie

Louise Mackenzie designed her first home when she was 15. She won awards in high school and in university for her drafting abilities and her first home was erected in 1981.

She graduated at the top of her class from Ryerson University in 1985 with a degree in Interior Design. She spent her summers drafting homes and cottages and after University went on to work with two of the most prestigious Design/Build Companies in Toronto. It was the mentoring, exposure and creativity working with J.F. Brennan Construction and Murakami Design Build respectively which gave Louise her fine tuned architectural
design skill set. She designs fine, quality custom homes.

Louise moved to Peterborough Ontario, located in the Kawartha Lakes area, to settle with her family and grow her business. Mackenzie Design Inc. has been a successful firm since 1996.

Her homes can be seen along the shores of Stoney, Clear, Balsam and Haliburton Lakes, and dotted throughout surrounding countryside properties.

Louise received international recognition along with builder Gord Toms for the design and completion of a unique boathouse which was built into a vertical rock cliff. The ICF award was presented in Las Vegas for the innovation and construction of the boathouse. This project along with the attached designed cottage was published in Canadian homes and Cottages magazine.

Louise has also been nominated for a Women in Business award for her accomplishments.
